Frode Weierud

Frode Weierud is a Norwegian amateur cryptologist. In addition to his previous professional activity as an engineer at CERN , he is mainly known for his more than forty years of work as a historian and cryptologist , which is reflected in numerous publications in these areas.

Act

Frode Weierud deals with classical cryptology, in particular with encryption methods of the Second World War . He is particularly interested in the ENIGMA rotor key machine used in radio communications by the German military in World War II and its cryptanalysis , on which he has published a large number of specialist articles.

In 2000 he was awarded the special title of Visiting Research Scholar by the Bletchley Park Trust of Bletchley Park , the agency in the United Kingdom that successfully deciphered the secret communications of the German Wehrmacht during World War II and is now a museum. He received this honor at the same time as Ralph Erskine and David Hamer .

Frode Weierud is a member of the Crypto Simulation Group (CSG) and lives in Oslo.
