Frog tower
The frog tower was built in 1918 on the site of the Erdal manufacturer Werner & Mertz in Mainz as part of a new building after a fire destroyed the entire factory on April 10, 1917. The company's emblem survived the Second World War virtually undamaged.
The figure, originally made as a solid concrete sculpture, was replaced in the 1960s by an indoor illuminated advertising system. This means that the monumental neon sign , which is still functioning today, is one of the oldest preserved advertising systems of this type in Europe.
