The solitary Yucca faxoniana is trunk-forming and reaches heights of 2 to 7 meters. The variable stiff, blue, green, gray leaves are 1 to 1.4 meters long and form fibers on the leaf edges.

The upright, branched, dense inflorescence is 1 to 1.2 meters high. The elongated, white flowers are 5.5 to 9 inches long. The flowering period extends from March to May.

Yucca faxoniana is related to Yucca carnerosana . In contrast to it, it has shorter and wider leaves. It has similarities with Yucca torreyi and Yucca treculiana , but differs from them in that it has a thicker trunk. She is a representative of the Yucca section , Faxonianae series .

This species is frost-hardy to minus 20 ° C when dry . Ancient specimens can be admired in Albuquerque and Santa Fé, New Mexico. In Europe, in the botanical garden of Hamburg, a 50 year old 6 meter high specimen grows.
