The Frostbite Spine (English for frostbite ) is a striking and 8 km long mountain ridge in the East Antarctic Victoria Land . On the east side of the Royal Society Range, it rises between the Hooker Glacier and the Salient Glacier .
The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee named the ridge at the suggestion of the New Zealand geologist Robert H. Findlay, whose team carried out geological studies in this area as part of the New Zealand Antarctic Research Program between 1979 and 1980. It was named after the fact that a team member suffered severe frostbite here and had to be replaced.
