The guitarist uses a footstool (or "footstool") as a base for the foot on the side of the gripping hand. The resulting raised leg position results in a more vertical guitar position with a raised guitar neck. This posture allows the guitarist to access the guitar neck more ergonomically. The footstool is mainly used in classical guitar music in connection with the classical guitar , but also in jazz when using semi-resonant guitars.
