FuG 244 "Bremen"

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The FuG 244 "Bremen" was a radar device of the German Air Force during World War II and represents a further development of the FuG 240 "Berlin" . The antenna mirror with a diameter of 70 cm, the swivel system and the display were identical to the previous system. The FuG 244 was specially developed for night hunting and worked with 10 kW impulse power on a wavelength of 9 cm with a frequency of 3300 MHz. With a search range of 5 km and a close-up resolution of 200 m, the performance has been further improved compared to the FuG 240. In addition, the “Bremen” device was smaller and lighter than the first series of “Berlin” devices.

Although the FuG 244 was still considered in the tender 12376/45 of the Reich Aviation Ministry for a modern night fighter and z. B. in the Heinkel P.1079 should be installed, none of the devices was still used. Only one copy was delivered and subjected to tests at the Diepensee test center at the end of the war .
