The district of Paimas is located in the province of Ayabaca in the Piura region in northwestern Peru . The district was established on September 8, 1964. It has an area of 324 km². At the 2017 census , there were 10,382 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 9,638, in 2007 10,060. The administrative center is the 550 m high town Paimas with 2504 inhabitants (as of 2017). Paimas is located 25 km west of the provincial capital Ayabaca .
Geographical location
The district of Paimas is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the north-west of the Ayabaca province. The Río Quiroz , left tributary of the Río Chira , crosses the district in a westerly direction.
The district of Paimas borders in the north on the district Suyo , in the east on the district Montero , in the southeast on the district Lagunas , in the south on the district Sapillica and in the southwest and in the west on the district Las Lomas ( province Piura ).
