The district of Sícchez is located in the province of Ayabaca in the Piura region in northwestern Peru . The district was founded on April 8, 1936. It has an area of 35.2 km². At the 2017 census there were 1728 inhabitants in the district. In 1993 the population was 3091, in 2007 2274. The administrative seat is the 1413 m high village Sícchez with 350 inhabitants (as of 2017). Sícchez is located 9.5 km north-northwest of the provincial capital Ayabaca . A larger place in the district next to Sícchez is Oxahuay with 570 inhabitants.
Geographical location
The Sícchez district is located in the Peruvian Western Cordillera in the north of the Ayabaca province near the Ecuadorian border. The area is drained to the north via the Quebrada Chocan, a left tributary of the Río Calvas .
The Sícchez district borders on the Montero district to the south, the Jililí district to the west and the Ayabaca district to the east .
