The Las Lomas district is located in the province of Piura of Piura Region in northwestern Peru . The district has an area of 634.47 km². At the 2017 census, there were 26,947 residents in the district. In 1993 the population was 26,302, in 2007 26,896. The administrative seat is in the small town of Las Lomas .
Geographical location
The Las Lomas district is located in the north of the Piura province. It has a longitudinal extent in NW-SE direction of about 40 km and a maximum width of 11.5 km. The district is located about 75 km northeast of the regional capital Piura . It extends over the upper catchment area of the Río Chipillico , a left tributary of the Río Chira . The foothills of the Peruvian Western Cordillera rise in the east of the district . The road runs through the district from Piura via Tambogrande and Las Lomas to Macará in Ecuador . Above the city of Las Lomas is the San Lorenzo dam on the Río Chipillico. In the lower elevations, irrigated agriculture is practiced.
The Las Lomas district borders on the Tambogrande district to the south, the Sullana province to the west and the Ayabaca province to the north and east .
