Fujiwara no Michitaka

Fujiwara no Michitaka . Drawing by Kikuchi Yōsai
Fujiwara no Michitaka ( Japanese 藤原 道 隆 ; * 953 ; † May 16, 995 ) was the first son of the regent Kaneie and Tokihime , and thus a court nobleman ( kugyō ) in the Heian period of Japan . Michitaka is sometimes also called Nijō Kampaku .
He ruled Japan as regent for the Emperor Ichijō:
- from May 8, 990 to May 26, 990 as Kampaku
- from May 27, 990 to 983 as a sesshō
- from 983 to 995 as Kampaku
Ichijō married Michitaka's daughter Teishi (Sadako) and thus strengthened the close ties between the imperial family and the Fujiwara .
Two regents ( Michinaga and Michikane ) and two imperial wives ( Chūshi and Senshi ) were among his siblings. Michikane immediately followed him in office.
