Fulvio Grimaldi

Fulvio Grimaldi (born May 12, 1934 in Florence ) is an Italian journalist, publicist, blogger and documentary filmmaker.

biography

Fulvio Grimaldi worked in the 40 years of his journalistic activity for the radio, such as the BBC , for several newspapers ( Paese Sera , Giorni-Vie nuove, Abc, Lotta continua). From 1986 to 1999 he worked for the RAI , primarily as a war correspondent.

In March 1999, because of a dispute over the war in Yugoslavia, he left state television and switched to Liberazione , the newspaper of the neo-communist party Rifondazione Comunista . Here he was in charge of the “Mondocane” (“Dog World”) section, which was also the title of one of his later books and one of his blogs. In May 2003, he said, his employment contract was terminated because of the deviation from the party line in the areas of Iraq, Palestine, Cuba and Yugoslavia. After winning the labor court case in the first instance, he was sentenced on appeal for the reimbursement of the original severance payment to Liberazione , which was followed by a long-standing dispute with the publisher.

Grimaldoi made several documentary films about global political crises and wars in his own production. When he deals with issues of international politics, the portrayal of the Palestinian conflict and the portrayal of the integration of Latin America that he is striving for stand out. Grimaldi was the only Italian witness of Bloody Sunday in Northern Ireland in 1972 that he was able to present in detail. He dealt intensively with the history of Yugoslavia. He criticized the public and from his point of view unilateral representation, which was due to an anti-Serb and pro-Croatian attitude.

In his appearances at Rai 3 and Meteo 3, Grimaldi often spoke about environmental issues, always accompanied by his dog Nando.

As an actor, he made a guest appearance in the film Investigations against a Citizen Above Suspicion (1970). Here he portrayed the role of Patané, a journalist for the Paese Sera newspaper . Two years later he also appeared in Paolo Cavara's film The Song of Murder and Manslaughter .
