history

However, many artists consider the potential of commercial dubstep to be exhausted, which resulted in various sub-genres and variations. Funkstep was mainly influenced from the spring of 2012 by influences from the genres Dubstep, French House , Funky House and Electro House .

features

The speed changes are particularly noticeable, since dubstep is usually between 64 and 80 beats per minute , while French and electro house are around 116 to 130. This problem is usually solved by playing the song half as fast as during its dubstep-like phases in the occurring House-like sections.

Funkstep songs often start with quiet intros , which are sometimes confused with songs of this genre in the first few moments due to the dubstep-like drums . But at the latest after the use of a typical dubstep riffs and soon subsequent change of the bass drum to a consistent 4.4 - clock reveals that the transition to more complex house music takes place, what makes a funkstep song. These transitions are possible several times per song and often mark the drops and high points.

Representatives of the genre are u. a. Redkay, Big Gigantic and Lil Silva
