Functional imaging
Under Functional imaging refers to imaging techniques in medicine , with which the likes of metabolic activity or blood flow can be measured. In contrast to anatomical ( morphological ) imaging, functional imaging tries to determine the physiological activity of certain organs or tissue layers .
The following imaging procedures are used for functional imaging:
- Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), in particular functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) and magnetic resonance perfusion imaging
- Computed tomography perfusion imaging
- Positron Emission Tomography (PET)
- Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography (SPECT)
- Magnetic Particle Imaging (MPI)
