Furikake
Furikake ( Japanese 振 り 掛 け or ふ り か け ) are various Japanese spice mixes for rice that are sprinkled ( furu ) on or cover ( kakeru ). They usually consist of dried and grated fish, white sesame seeds , soy sauce , seaweed , sugar , salt, and monosodium glutamate . Other spicy ingredients such as katsuobushi (sometimes referred to as bonito on the package ), salmon , shiso , eggs , vegetables , etc. are also included. Furikake is often brightly colored and flaky. Outside of Japan, furikake is mostly sold where katsuobushi can be found.
