history

850 years Furthmühle (1158–2008)

The Furthmühle was first mentioned in a document in 1158. Its existence for 850 years was celebrated in 2008. The mill in its current form has been in existence since 1828, when the former Hofmarks mill Weyhern was rebuilt by the client Freiherr von Lotzbeck on the right side of the Glonn. It is assumed that the architect Jean Baptiste Métivier was involved , but this has not been proven. The Furthmühle was leased to various millers and master craftsmen until it was sold in 1921 to the Aumüller family, who had previously leased it and who still own it today.

use

As a museum mill, it is now open to visitors. The rooms can also be used for weddings and other celebrations. There is a support association that supports research into the history of the mill, organizes individual exhibitions for the museum and has been offering a cultural program of music and cabaret since 2019.
