Futsalicious Essen (officially: Futsalicious Essen e.V.) is a German sports club from Essen in North Rhine-Westphalia , which emerged in 2009 from a futsal team of students from the University of Duisburg-Essen and the first futsal club in the city. Currently (as of July 2020) the club has two departments and offers its around 100 members a total of four sports: futsal, volleyball, running and (small-pitch) football.

history

The founding of the association resulted directly from the first futsal university sports course at the University of Duisburg-Essen, which was first offered in 2005. After the resulting team had participated in various student tournaments from 2006, in 2008 at the first participation followed a Futsal Niederrhein League of Football Association Niederrhein eV (FVN) . In the following year, 2009, the association communicated that only club teams could continue to participate in official league operations. On September 5, 2009, 15 players and friends founded the Futsalicious Essen eV association in an attic apartment in Altenessen.

From 2009 to 2012 Futsalicious Essen eV was a pure futsal club. In addition to a men's team, from 2010 onwards the association promoted the establishment of a women's futsal team through a university sports course for women. Then they opened up to other sports: In 2012 a department for dance and jazz & modern dance (JMD) with the nickname "Dancelicious" was founded. Since 2015, the association has supported its members who are interested in running through the "Runnerlicious" program. In 2017 the club established a department for volleyball called "Butterlicious". And in 2019, Futsalicious Essen also integrated football , or more precisely: five-a-side football , into its futsal department under the name "Soccerlicious".

Departments

Futsal

The men's teams from Futsalicious Essen have been taking part in the futsal league and futsal cup competitions of the Niederrhein eV (FVN) football association without interruption since 2008. In the 2009/2010 and 2014/2015 seasons, the (1st) men's team, each as the reigning Lower Rhine futsal champion, took part in the WFLV (now WDFV) Futsalliga West . Since 2014/2015, the men's teams have also been taking part in the Futsal Cup competitions of the WFLV / WDFV.

The women's team, the "Futsalicious Essen Ladies", took part in the WFLV / WDFV futsal league and cup competitions from the 2015/2016 season up to and including 2018/2019. a. in the Women's Futsalliga West . Due to unbridgeable internal quarrels, the entire women's team left the club at the end of the 2018/19 season.

In the 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 seasons, Futsalicious Essen, together with PCF Mülheim and PSV Duisburg, established a syndicate in the FVN Futsal State League under the name "Futsal SG Ruhrgebiet West" .

For the 2019/2020 season, Futsalicious Essen registered a men's soccer team for the FVN Ü32 small field championship for the first time. The premiere season was canceled due to the corona pandemic .

Since 2014, Futsalicious Essen has been organizing its own futsal tournament under the name "POKALICIOUS" relatively regularly, in which national and international futsal teams take part.

Dance / Jazz & Modern Dance

For the 2013 season, the dance formation "Dancelicious" competed for the first time in the league competition of the Tanzsportverband Nordrhein-Westfalen (TNW). Via the relegation round, the promotion from the regional league to the association league succeeded in the first year. In the second season in 2014, with the title of TNW Association League Champion West, he was promoted again to the Oberliga West. And in the third season of 2015, the formation "Dancelicious" achieved promotion to the TNW Regionalliga West for jazz & modern dance through another round of relegation. Due to an acute loss of assets, however, in 2016/17 he was relegated and left the JMD formation league. In 2017 a small group called "Dancelicious" was formed, which successfully competed in the rankings tournament and German Cup 2017 of the German Dance Sports Association (DTV) .

At the end of June 2020, the dance / jazz & modern dance (Dancelicious) department was closed due to the lack of competition opportunities (due to the corona pandemic) and an acute shortage of young talent, for "reasons of age".

volleyball

Futsalicious Essen’s mixed team "Butterlicious" has been taking part in the amateur volleyball league competition of the BFS-Ruhr (under the umbrella of the West German Volleyball Association (WVV) ) since the 2017/2018 season . In 2018/2019 the mixed team won the championship title, but renounced promotion. When the 2019/2020 season was canceled due to the corona pandemic, "Butterlicious" was again in 1st place in the BFS-Ruhr Hobbyliga B.
