Feeding boats (also called "feeding boats") are converted, remote-controlled model boats for delivering fish feed or assemblies.

They should make it possible to bring feeding equipment or fishing rigs to difficult or distant fishing spots. With the help of a remote control , the feed or the assembly can be precisely drained. There are now many different types of bait boats, some of which are even equipped with radio echo sounders or GPS.

The first bait boats were developed in England in the 1980s .

Since the boat hulls are custom-made, the price is usually over € 500. For devices with echo sounder and GPS, up to € 3,000 is sometimes charged.

Bait boats are equipped with brush motors or a jet drive. Lead, lithium or lithium polymer batteries are operated. One battery charge lasts for about 5 hours of driving time. Bait boats can be loaded with up to five kilograms of feed. Most bait boats have a release clutch. This makes it possible to bring out a hook assembly with the bait boat. With a button on the remote control, the mostly magnetic real coupling is deactivated and the hook assembly drops to the desired fishing spot. Bait boats with GPS automatically drive to the previously set fishing spots. The angler then only has to load the boat with fishing feed. The bait boat takes care of the journey to the specified GPS point by itself.
