Feeding

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The baiting is a term from the sport fishing and describes the curls of the targeted prey to the fishing spot. Often a mixture of breadcrumbs is used for this, which is moistened with water and kneaded into balls the size of tennis balls. These sink to the bottom and disintegrate into the finest flakes, which attract the fish but do not satisfy them. Feeding boats or bait boats enable the application of fish feed or assemblies at difficult or distant fishing spots.

corruption

The legal term “feeding” is derived from this. This refers to the (repeated) giving of gifts to politicians or other decision-makers without them (initially) expecting anything in return. In Germany, feeding is often referred to as landscape maintenance and viewed as bribery .

With the new anti- corruption law at the beginning of 2008, any acceptance of gifts by officials was prohibited in Austria; this should make "feeding" impossible. However, following protests from the business community and organizers of cultural events (such as the Salzburg Festival), the regulation was relaxed again in 2009, which was criticized as a step backwards, particularly in connection with the telecommunications affair and the parliamentary investigation committee to clarify allegations of corruption .
