The Gavleån , also Gävleån, is a river in Sweden . It forms the outflow of Lake Storsjön , from which it flows about 21 kilometers to the east and flows into the Gulf of Bothnia in the town of Gävle .
The Gävleån has an average water flow of 21 m³ / s, which can increase tenfold when the snow melts in spring.
Gävleån was known as one of the richest crayfish waters in Sweden, but in 1990 an unknown disease eliminated the entire population. A renewal of the population seems unlikely after the illegal release of signal crabs.
