Gísli Pálsson

Gísli Pálsson (* 1949 on the Westman Islands , Iceland ) is an Icelandic author and university professor .

Life

Gisli was born and raised on the Westmann Islands south of Iceland. Today (2012) he is Professor of Ethnology at the University of Iceland in Reykjavík . He is the author or co-author of more than a dozen books dealing with ethnological topics and explorers, such as Vilhjálmur Stefánsson .

Gisli is a member of the Royal Anthropological Institute of Great Britain and Ireland in London .

Honors and prizes

  • 2000 Rosenstiel Award in Oceanographic Science from the Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science at the University of Miami , Miami, Florida, USA.
