Göran Kauermann

Göran Kauermann (born October 17, 1965 in Hagen ) is a German statistician .

Life

Göran Kauermann received his doctorate in 1994 with a thesis on multivariate distributions at the Technical University of Berlin under Gerhard Tutz . In 2000 he completed his habilitation at the Institute for Statistics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . After three years as a lecturer (most recently a senior lecturer) at the University of Glasgow , he was appointed to the chair of statistics at the Faculty of Economics at Bielefeld University in 2003. In the same year he founded the StatBeCe ( Statistics Consulting Center Bielefeld), within the framework of which statistical know-how is made available for application-oriented research and business projects and was henceforth head of StatBeCe. Gören Kauermann set up the Center for Statistics with other university members close to statistics, of which he was the spokesman, in order to bundle statistical skills. As a result, he made a significant contribution to the establishment of the Master's degree in Statistical Sciences (started in the winter semester 2010/2011).

Kauermann was a co-founder of the German Statistics Working Group . He was the founding chairman until 2013.

Since 2011, Kauermann has held the chair for statistics and their applications in economics and social sciences at the Institute for Statistics at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. He is the managing director of the Institute for Statistics. He is the spokesman for the master's degree in Data Science, which is funded by the Bavarian Elite Network .

Göran Kauermann has been dean at LMU Munich since October 2019.

Act

Göran Kauermann conducts research on advanced regression analysis such as generalized additive and generalized mixed models.
