Günter Blümlein

Günter Blümlein (born March 21, 1943 in Nuremberg ; † October 1, 2001 in Schaffhausen ) was a German entrepreneur. Blümlein was the managing director of the watch manufacturer LMH Les manufactures horlogères SA .

Blümlein began his professional career at the German watch manufacturer Junghans and switched to the IWC brand in 1980 . At the time, IWC was a subsidiary of VDO Automotive , which also owned a majority share in Jaeger-LeCoultre . IWC praised Blümlein as “the man who successfully led IWC out of the Swiss watch crisis of the 1970s”. In 1990, together with Walter Lange , he re-founded the watch manufacturer A. Lange & Söhne in Glashütte (Saxony) , where VDO also owned 90% of the shares. The three watch companies were grouped under the name Les Manufactures Horlogères .

In 1991 VDO was bought by Mannesmann . In 2000, the watch manufacturers combined under LMH were sold to Richemont . Blümlein was most recently Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Les Manufactures Horlogères group, which he co-founded in 1991 and based in Schaffhausen.
