Günter Fischer

Günter Fischer (* 22. February 1941 in Karlsruhe ) is a German politician of the SPD .

After attending primary school, Fischer completed an apprenticeship as a lathe operator . After completing his journeyman's and master's exams, he worked as an independent master craftsman from 1966 to 1986 . Fischer is married; the marriage resulted in two children.

Fischer joined the SPD in 1970. In 1980 he took over the chairmanship of the Karlsruhe-Hagsfeld local association ; He was also a member of the board of the Karlsruhe SPD district association. In 1980 he was elected to the Karlsruhe municipal council, of which he was a member until 1996.

In the state elections in April 1996 , Fischer was elected to the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg for the first time . In the 13th electoral period (2001-2006) he was the parliamentary manager of the SPD parliamentary group . In both electoral terms, Fischer represented the Karlsruhe I constituency ; there he won the direct mandate in 2001. However, he no longer belongs to the 14th state parliament.
