Günter Krombholz

Günter Krombholz (born April 30, 1952 in Erfurt ) is a German civil servant and was President of the Thuringian State Office for Statistics and State Returning Officer of the Free State of Thuringia from 2003 to 2018 .

Life

After graduating from school, Krombholz began training as a data processing specialist . From 1975 to 1979 he worked as a shift supervisor in a computer center, during which time he graduated as a data processing engineer. In 1985 he passed the exams to become a graduate engineer for computer science at the engineering college in Dresden . After the re-establishment of the State of Thuringia and the Thuringian State Office for Statistics, Krombholz was Head of the Data Processing Department, Deputy President of the State Office and Deputy State Returning Officer there until the end of March 2003. In April 2003 he was appointed President of the Thuringian State Office for Statistics as the successor to Gerhard Scheuerer and a few months later he was appointed State Returning Officer. When he turns 66 on April 30, 2018, Krombholz will retire. His successor as President has been the former Interior Minister Holger Poppenhäger since May 1st . In consultation with the Thuringian Ministry of the Interior , Krombholz is to remain an honorary state returning officer for a transition period of one year.
