Günter W. Hein

Günter W. Hein (born April 5, 1949 ) was Head of Galileo Operations and Evolution at the European Space Agency from 2008 to 2014 and Professor of Geodesy on leave at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich .

Since 1983 Hein had a chair at the Bundeswehr University . In December 2008 he moved to the European space agency ESA to play a key role in the development of the Galileo satellite navigation system . He was the first non-American recipient of the Kepler Award. Hein lives in Holzkirchen (Upper Bavaria) .
