He made his professional debut on March 7, 1992 against FC 08 Homburg (3: 1). After six months and ten games, he left Jena again and signed a contract with SV Darmstadt 98 , also second division. The season ended with the descent of Darmstadt and Baerhausen went to SV Wilhelmshaven in the Lower Saxony Association League . His club rose to the newly created regional league in 1994, so that Baerhausen played in this league for Wilhelmshaven for two years before he switched to league rivals VfL Osnabrück . With VfL, he rose to the 2nd Bundesliga in 2000. There he came to only five missions in 2000/01 and had to end his career due to injury.
