The Gürzenicher Straße in the district town of Düren ( North Rhine-Westphalia ) is an inner-city street . It is located in the Rölsdorf district .

location

The road begins at the Auweg / Valencienner Strasse intersection in Gürzenich and ends at the confluence with Monschauer Strasse in Rölsdorf.

history

After the construction of the Düren - Aachen railway line in 1841, the company Eberhard Hoesch u. Söhne signed a contract with the railway administration, according to which they were allowed to build a loading ramp on this route in today's Auweg in order to be able to transport their raw materials and their finished products more quickly via the shortest route through Gürzenicher Strasse to Lendersdorf .

When Rölsdorf was incorporated on April 1, 1937, Hoeschweg was renamed Gürzenicher Strasse , as there were already several "Hoeschstrasse" in Düren.

At the confluence with Valencienner Straße is the listed Johanneskreuz . The new parish church of St. Nikolaus stands at the confluence of the street An der Ziegelei .
