A Gütte , even quality , Göte , Geete (lower German to casting, casting ), professionally ancient also litter tray or casting gutter , is a wooden water bucket from the historical textile nature. The tool suitable for ejecting water has an elongated scoop shape on a long handle. The use for irrigation of meadows has also been handed down.

function

During the bleaching process, workers shared the bleaching water from the ditches or streams on the spreading linen with the smelters .

The tool could be used to spread the bleaching water over large quantities of laid-out yarn or cloth - a worker is said to have been able to pour 60–100 feet (around 20–30 meters) with the furnace  . In the bleaching areas (bleaching fields) trenches were dug in a suitable grid or the bleaching liquor (Büke) was made available in large tubs . Then the bleached goods were scooped (poured) from two sides so that the Büke was completely distributed even in the wind.

heraldry

In the coat of arms of the Bielefeld district Ummeln , two crossing geets are depicted - there the tools are still used in traditional competitions.
