GL Nagel was a piano factory ( Pianofortefabrik ) in Heilbronn . It was called the imperial Ottoman court piano factory and was also supplier to the Württemberg court from February 25, 1906 .

history

Various information is in circulation about the year of foundation; in 1897, the year 1828 was mentioned, as was 1918, but in an advertisement from 1932 the year 1818. Van Medevoort, however, states that the factory was only set up in 1862. A predecessor company was probably taken into account in the information on a previous establishment. In any case, Gerhardt (or Gerhard) Ludwig Nagel (* 1829; † March 7, 1897), whose initials apparently appear in the company name, was based in Heilbronn from 1859. From around 1870 the GL Nagel piano factory was located at Turmstrasse 27 and 27a. In 1906 Wilhelm and Hermann Nagel were the owners of GL Nagel.

After the closure of the CF Glass & Co. piano factory, also located in Heilbronn , GL Nagel took over its holdings in 1928 or 1929 and from then on also produced glass pianos.

Due to the war, production had to be stopped in 1939; however, remaining stocks were sold for a few years. The piano factory was destroyed in World War II.
