GV Loganathan

GV Loganathan ( Gobichettypalayam Vasudevan Loganathan ; born April 20, 1956 in the village of Karatadipalayam , Tamil Nadu ; † April 16, 2007 in Blacksburg , Virginia ) was an Indian civil engineer.

Loganathan graduated from the University of Madras with a bachelor's degree in 1976 , received his master's degree from the Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur in 1978, and received his PhD from Purdue University in 1982 . He then moved to the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University ("Virginia Tech"). Here he developed into an outstanding and multiple award-winning scientist in the field of civil engineering. Most recently he was Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering . Loganathan has served on the Faculty Senate and the Virginia Tech Honor Court . He was also an Associate Editor of the Journal of Hydrologic Engineering .

Loganathan was one of the victims in the Virginia Tech rampage on April 16, 2007 .
