GAT - Greetings from Tattoos is an annual picture exhibition for those interested in art and tattoo lovers, to which tattooists from German-speaking countries are invited to interpret a common theme in drawings. The first GAT exhibition took place in 2002/2003 and a catalog has been offered for each exhibition since 2014.

history

GAT Berlin 2017

In 2002, the tattoo artists Zappa and Niko D. implemented the idea that “several tattooists draw their own ideas on a given topic in a joint flash”. This was followed by exhibitions with fixed topics, e.g. B. 2003 happiness and unhappiness , 2004 skull , 2005 drugs and 2007 circus, freakshos, wild animals ; In 2014, the first catalog was published for GAT # 8.

In 2016 the association “GAT - Greetings from Tattoos e. V. “founded.

The 10th GAT took place in 2017; the topic was “Grenzgänger / Grenz / Grenzenlos”. “The GAT team was inspired by the venue 'Am Flutgraben' on this topic. This once served as a workshop for vehicle repairs on local public transport in East Berlin and was directly part of the Berlin Wall . "

In 2018 there was a review of the past ten years and some selected works from these ten GAT exhibitions were shown. This retrospective took place from August 3rd to 5th at the International Tattoo Convention in Berlin and from September 29th to 30th at the Tattoo Palozza in Wolfsburg.
