history

Like many other railway companies, Gävle – Dala Järnvägar wanted to reduce the costs of the complex shunting operations with steam locomotives in the 1930s . Therefore, two shunting tractors were ordered from AB Slipmaterial in Västervik , which were delivered in 1933 with the serial numbers 150 and 151 and were given the series numbers Zm 2 and Zm 3 .

The two locomotives were built according to the Bjurström type 12 data sheet and had wide cabs. No. 2 was equipped with a crude oil engine.

GDJ Zm 72 and 73

In 1945 there was a change in the numbering plan at Gävle-Dala Järnvägar . In this case, received 2 cm the new number Zm 72 , the cm 3 was used to cm 73 .

SJ Z (II)

When Gävle – Dala Järnvägar was acquired by the state on July 1, 1947 as part of the general nationalization of the railways in Sweden , the GDJ was taken over as an independent company by Statens Järnvägar . With the final integration on July 1, 1948 and the dissolution of the GDJ, the two locomotives were added to the SJ Z (II) series . GDJ Zm 72 became Z (II) 237 and GDJ Zm 7 became Z (II) 238 .

SJ Z3 (VII)

When the small locomotives were re- sorted in Sweden , the SJ Z 237 became the Z3 237 in 1959 , and the SJ Z 238 had already been renamed the Z3 238 in 1954 .
