GEO-LEO
GEO-LEO ( GEO L ibrary E xperts O nline) is the virtual specialist library for geosciences , mining , geography and thematic maps. The free internet portal is used to search, record and procure books, magazines as well as articles, maps, websites and full texts on geo and mining science topics. Free and licensed full texts, e.g. in e-journals, can be accessed directly. In addition, you can also publish your own specialist articles in GEO-LEOe-docs (repository of FID GEO ).
GEO-LEO is a joint project of the geological and mining science special collection area libraries Universitätsbibliothek Freiberg (UBF) and the Lower Saxony State and University Library Göttingen (SUB), which have already worked together successfully in the past due to their special collection areas (SSGs). The project has existed since 2002 and was funded by the DFG until 2007 .

Metasearch
GEO-LEO simultaneously searches over approx. 1.2 million geological and mining science literature references in library catalogs, approx. 800,000 articles and reviews in specialist databases and approx. 47,000 full texts from over 80 document servers .
Web sources
The approx. 3,100 geoscientific internet sources of the Geo-Guide database are integrated into GEO-LEO. The so-called harvester, which is based on the Internet sources from the Geo-Guide, also offers around 31,000 electronic documents (HTML pages, PDF documents, etc.).
Research
GEO-LEO offers three search entry points: “Google-like” quick search, advanced search and thematic search (browsing). It is also possible to integrate a GEO-LEO search window on websites via HTML.
organization
GEO-LEO offers the advantage of simple organization of the search queries up to the storage and output of the research results for reference management programs such as EndNote , BibTeX , Reference Manager or simply as text. The alert service automatically sends the latest books, articles and web sources to you via email based on previously defined search queries. This requires free registration with GEO-LEO.
The publication platform GEO-LEOe-docs
GEO-LEOe-docs is the publication platform of the FID GEO for geo- and mining science information resources. Here, scientists can publish their work results in various forms and read and download the work of others as full texts free of charge . GEO-LEOe-docs is the document server that was created for GEO-LEO. Scientists and students can publish pre- and postprints of peer-reviewed articles, dissertations , diploma theses , study papers and excursion reports as well as entire conference proceedings etc. As a result of the free internet access, these texts are accessible worldwide and are therefore cited more frequently. The exact procedure is shown in the online help of GEO-LEOe-docs.
