GEOS ( G lobales E ffekten O nline S ystem) is an IT office and settlement system of securities with an emphasis on Straight Through Processing (STP). The main components of GEOS (management of financial instruments and orders as well as position management) are used, among other things, for processing securities orders , for securities clearing and settlement and for processing corporate actions (e.g. payment of a dividend ).

The manufacturer of GEOS is Software Daten Service (SDS) with headquarters in Vienna in the T-Center , a 100% subsidiary of T-Systems .

Customers include HSBC Trinkaus , Raiffeisen Austria , Bank Austria , BAWAG PSK , UniCredit Group , UniCredit Ţiriac Bank in Romania and Banque et Caisse d'Epargne de l'Etat in Luxembourg . In Austria, around 80% of the securities settlement market is covered by GEOS (as of 2009).

history

GEOS emerged from the software EOS ("Effekten Online System"), which was developed in the 1980s by the Austrian Schoellerbank and which was also offered to other banks after the company SDS was founded. The development of GEOS began in 1993, in 1998 the system was first put into operation by a bank.
