Background and story

GHH wheelset

The former Gutehoffnungshütte began producing wheelsets as early as 1808. In 1995 the wheel sets division was spun off from MAN Gutehoffnungshütte and in 2000 it became part of the Swedish SAB-Wabco Group, which Faiveley acquired in 2004 . Since 2005, GHH Radsatz has been majority owned by the private equity investor Syntegra Capital (formerly SG Capital Europe). In 2008, GHH Radsatz acquired almost 100% of the shares in Valdunes International SA, based in Montigny-le-Bretonneux near Paris, which acts as the parent company of the Franco-Belgian Valdunes Group.

GHH Valdunes

The Valdunes Group also has a long industrial past: The subsidiary Valdunes Belux was founded in 1830 as part of the Cockerill Group; the Valenciennes site has existed since 1840, Dunkirk since 1912. Valdunes was part of the Usinor Group until 1998 , then with the US company Freedom Forge and from 2001 with the financial investor Acland Capital Investment.

The GHH Valdunes Group was created in 2005 under the leadership of Syntegra through the consolidation of the German GHH Radsatz with the French Valdunes Group. On October 11, 2013, the Valdunes subgroup initiated a so-called procédure de sauvegarde at the competent court in Valenciennes . The procédure de sauvegarde is a pre-insolvency protective shield procedure that French companies in a state of solvency can apply to solve their economic difficulties. The Czech competitor Bonatrans took over the German subsidiary Gutehoffnungshütte Radsatz GmbH on January 1, 2014. It has been operating as GHH-Bonatrans since then, Valdunes was sold to the Chinese MA Steel .

Bonatrans

Bonatrans was established in 1965 as a unit of the Bohumin Iron and Wire Works (ŽDB) and has pursued a determined expansion policy since the early 1990s.
