GOME Electrical Appliances is a Chinese company headquartered in Beijing .
As a retail company, electronic devices and accessories in particular are sold in China. The company was founded in 1987 by Huang Guangyu . The first store opened in Beijing. In 2006, China Paradise was acquired. The company employs almost 50,000 people (as of 2009).
In May 2010, billionaire founder Huang Guangyu was sentenced to 14 years in prison for tax evasion, insider trading and financial manipulation. His wife received a three-year prison term.
