The GPE Palmtop Environment ( GPE ) is a free GUI environment for PDAs under a GNU / Linux - operating system running.
GPE uses the X Window System and GTK + . The devices currently supported include the Compaq iPAQ and the Sharp Zaurus .
GPE is not a single piece of software, but a complete desktop environment, composed of components, which enables a GNU / Linux PDA to be used for standard tasks in the field of personal information management (PIM). In addition, GPE provides developers with the necessary infrastructure. In addition to providing system libraries, GPE also sets standards for the interaction of programs such as B. SQL , XML and other data structures.
