GW 301

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The GW 301 is a worksheet of German Association of Gas and Water eV (DVGW). It contains the qualification criteria for pipeline construction companies and serves as an examination basis for the certification of specialist companies.

history

As early as 1934, the “Guidelines for the approval of pipeline construction companies for the manufacture of pipeline networks and long-distance lines for low, medium and high pressure in the gas and water sector”, the predecessor of GW 301, were published.

Worksheet GW 301 was first published in 1970 by the DVGW in cooperation with the pipeline construction association (rbv) under the title “Guidelines for the issuing of DVGW certification for pipeline construction companies”. In 1973, a compilation of the DIN standards and the DVGW set of rules for pipeline construction followed. Since then, the pipeline construction association has published a revised version in "bbr Wasser und Rohrbau" every year. The last edition of GW 301 dates from 1999. The additional groups for rehabilitation and trenchless reclamation were also included in the certification process.

However, over the years more and more specialist companies for rehabilitation and trenchless laying of new pipelines have been founded, which no longer offered traditional pipeline construction and could therefore not be certified by GW 301. Therefore, in 2001, GW 302 “Qualification criteria for companies for trenchless new laying and rehabilitation of pipelines that are not in operation” came into force as a supplement to GW 301.

Qualification process

The qualification procedure according to GW 301 aims to increase the safety in pipeline construction and to optimize order processing. The provisions of GW 301 apply to companies that build and repair gas and water pipelines or work on pipelines that are in operation. Pipeline construction companies who want to receive GW 301 certification from DVGW must meet the personnel and material requirements listed in the GW 301 rules of procedure. In addition to the personal and factual criteria, the rules of procedure also regulate general questions relating to the certification process, such as application, preliminary examination, examination procedure, issuing of the certificate and the period of validity. The qualification criteria of the rules of procedure are the basis for the certification of pipeline construction companies.

The certification according to GW 301 itself is carried out by accredited companies such as B. the TÜV through.

The qualification criteria specified in the worksheet are used. The specialist knowledge of the responsible specialist is checked and assessed in technical discussions. In addition, the technical equipment and the working methods on the construction sites are assessed during visits to the depots and construction sites. The operational management system is also examined. Criteria for successful certification in accordance with GW 301 are qualified personnel, suitable technical equipment and professional documentation of the working principles.

The GW 301 certificate is recognized throughout Germany and stands for high quality standards .
