On March 27, 1956, the name was changed to “Rohrleitungsbauverband e. V. ". In 1959 the association's headquarters were relocated from Hamburg to Cologne-Rodenkirchen. In 1970 the DVGW worksheet GW 301 was published with the help of the rbv , which defines the qualification criteria for pipeline construction companies. To this day, GW 301 forms the most important basis for the certification of pipeline construction companies. In 1973, a compilation of the DIN standards and the DVGW set of rules for pipeline construction followed. Since then, a revised version has been published annually in the "bbr specialist magazine for well and pipeline construction". In order to support further training in pipeline construction, the Berufsförderungswerk des Rohrleitungsbauverband e. V. (brbv) founded. With an amendment to the statutes in 2010, the range of topics of the association was expanded beyond the areas of gas and water to include district heating, waste water, electricity and data. Another amendment to the statutes in 2017 enables engineering offices and manufacturers to become members of the rbv. Today the association has 10 regional groups and unites around 600 members.

The course in civil engineering with a specialization in network engineering at the FH Aachen has existed since the beginning of 2009 . As part of its public relations work, the Pipeline Construction Association organizes information events, conducts press work, creates brochures and books in cooperation with interest groups that are aligned in the same direction.
