Gabino Tejado y Rodríguez (* 1819 in Badajoz , † 1891 in Madrid ) was a Spanish journalist and writer.

Career

He edited the liberal magazine El Extremeño before turning to traditionalism and neocatholicism (political currents that advocated Catholic influence on politics). Gabino Tejado y Rodríguez was a student of Juan Donoso Cortés, Marqués de Valdegamas , whose Obras (Collected Works, 1854-1856) he collected in five volumes and provided with a foreword. He appeared in the magazines of his friend Francisco Navarro Villoslada El Padre Cobos (The Father Cobos) and El Pensamiento Español (The Spanish Thought). Elected to an academic in 1880, he gave the opening speech La España que se va (The Spain that is leaving .). His drama La herencia de un trono (1848), his novels El caballero de la reina (1847), Víctimas y verdugos (1859) and La mujer fuerte were published several times, as well as his essai El catolicismo liberal (1875). Gabino Tejado y Rodríguez translated Alessandro Manzoni's Los novios and worked as a theater critic for El Laberinto , commenting on Manuel Bretón de los Herreros, Juan Eugenio Hartzenbusch and José Zorrilla .

He appears in the edition Los españoles pintados por sí mismos (The Spaniards who draw themselves) as The withdrawn . He appears as one of four poets in Antonio María Esquivels painting Los poetas contemporaneos (The contemporary poets).

Political positions

Gabino Tejado opposed liberal Catholicism by warning that the usurpation of the rights of God leads to the usurpation of the rights of the prince, the father of the family and the owner, going from one abyss to another. Moderate liberalism and systematized anarchy necessarily produce modern democracy, which in turn produces Caesarism . This new Caesarism, which is generated from democracy by liberalism, is the ancient paganism , plus the steamship, the train and the administrative centralization.
