Gabriela Elena "Gaby" Španić Utrera (born December 10, 1973 in Ortiz , Guárico , Venezuela ) is a Venezuelan actress and twin sister of model and colleague Daniela Španić , who was best known for her roles in telenovelas .
Life
Španić's father, a native Croat , came to Venezuela with his parents in 1947; her mother is Venezuelan.
Španić's career began with the Miss Venezuela beauty pageant in 1992 as Miss Guárico. She began her psychology studies, but also pursued her acting career. The latter got a big boost from important roles in major telenovelas that she played since the mid-1990s. In particular, La Usurpadora (1998) was a great success in Latin America .
Španić married Miguel de León . During this time she left Mexico for a telenovela with José Angel Llamas . When rumors of an affair between her and Llamas emerged, the two split up. She got the title role in Doña Barbara , but left the series during preproduction.
