Gabriele Arenberger

Gabriele Arenberger (born November 18, 1960 ) is an Austrian politician ( SPÖ ). Arenberger was a member of the Burgenland Landtag from 2000 to 2008 .

Life

Gabriele Arenberger attended elementary and secondary school and then completed an HBLA for economic female professions. Arenberger worked for the Vienna Red Cross and the Vienna community. She has been a housewife and carer in the child minders' office since 1998.

She is the mother of two children.

Arenberger lives in Leithaprodersdorf , where she is also the local party leader and member of the local council. Since December 28, 2000, she has been a member of the Burgenland Parliament and a member of the Environment Committee (chairwoman), the Agriculture Committee (chairman deputy) and the Social Committee. Arenberger is also the area spokesperson for the environment, agriculture and forestry, animal welfare and people with disabilities.

In May 2008 Arenberger announced her withdrawal from the state parliament. Previously, she had unsuccessfully applied for the position of district party leader in the Eisenstadt area . After Gerhard Steier, Member of the National Council, also applied for the post, Arenberger withdrew her candidacy after it became clear that Steier would be elected as SPÖ district party leader. Arenberger resigned her state parliament mandate on July 31st, she kept her municipal council mandate. Robert Hergovich succeeded her in the state parliament .
