Gabriele Betancourt Nuñez

Gabriele Betancourt Nuñez (* 1951 in Tübingen ) is a German art historian .

Life

She studied art history, German literature and psychology in Tübingen and Marburg . Since 1988 she has been teaching at technical colleges and universities. From 1988 to 2011 she headed the photography collection at the Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe Hamburg . From 1992 to 1998 she was President of the German Photographic Academy. Since 2009 she has been teaching as an honorary professor at the University of Hamburg .

Her focus is on the history of photography in the 19th and 20th centuries, art photography around 1900, 1920s and the Third Reich.
