Gabriele Preuss

Gabriele Preuss (born September 27, 1954 in Dortmund ) is a German politician ( SPD ). She was elected to the European Parliament in the 2014 European elections . She did not run for the 2019 election.

Life

Origin and family

Preuss is a trained master craftsman and industrial clerk . She is married and has one son.

politics

In 1999 she was in the city council elected by Gelsenkirchen. Since the local elections in North Rhine-Westphalia in 2004 she was mayor there and thus 1st deputy mayor.

She was initially active with the Falken and Jusos and joined the SPD in 1970. From 2000 to 2014 she was an assessor on the SPD board of Gelsenkirchen and chairwoman of the Gelsenkirchen-Bismarck local association . Her focus is on economic and structural policy. She was a member of several committees there.

Since 2014 she was a member of the European Parliament , where she was a member of the Committee on Transport and Tourism , the Committee on Petitions of the European Parliament and the delegation to the EU-Turkey Joint Parliamentary Committee as well as deputy of the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety and the delegation to the Joint Parliamentary EU-Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia Committee.

Volunteering

She was on the supervisory board of Stadtwerke Gelsenkirchen as well as on the administrative board of the local savings bank and in the regional association Ruhr (RVR) assembly .

In addition, Preuss u. a. Member of the German-Turkish friends , the development association Büyükçekmece and ver.di .
