Gabriele Tamandl

Gabriele Tamandl (born March 29, 1966 in Vienna ) is an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ). From 2003 to 2017 she was a member of the Austrian National Council with interruptions . She is also the deputy federal chairwoman of the ÖAAB and regional chairwoman of the ÖAAB Vienna.

Education and training

Gabriele Tamandl attended an elementary school in Vienna between 1972 and 1976 and then completed an integrated comprehensive school by 1980. She then began her training at a commercial academy in Vienna , which she graduated in 1986. In 1988 Tamandl passed the internship examination in a tax consulting firm.

Professional and political career

Gabriele Tamandl joined a tax consultancy firm in Simmering in 1986 and was promoted to office manager in 1990. Between 1997 and her departure in 2004, Tamandl worked in the firm as a certified tax clerk. Since May 2006 Tamandl has been employed as a certified tax clerk in a tax consultancy firm in Währing .

According to his own statements, Tamandl already had the desire to go into politics at the age of sixteen. She joined the Young People's Party in 1982 and in 1985 took on the role of district party leader of the ÖVP in her home district of Simmering. In 1998 the ÖAAB elected her as deputy chairwoman, and in 1999 she also became district party leader. However, Tamandl did not take over her first political office until April 2000, when she was sworn in as District Councilor in Simmering and took over the agendas of the environment and security. Between 2001 and 2002, in addition to her work as a district councilor, she also held the position of deputy chairwoman of the ÖVP Simmering. In mid-2002, she was also elected regional party chairwoman in Vienna, which she remained until April 25, 2012. In 1996 and 2001 Tamandl ran for the municipal council and was co-opted into the district party executive in 1997.

After Tamandl ran unsuccessfully for the National Council in 1999 and 2002 , she moved to the National Council on March 5, 2003 after the formation of the government. Tamandl also failed in the 2006 National Council elections due to a direct entry into the National Council. However, after the formation of the government on January 16, 2007, she was able to take over the vacated mandate of State Secretary Christine Marek . In the 23rd legislative period she was represented in the committees of the Court of Auditors, Economy and Industry, Budget, Family and Finance.

After the National Council election in Austria in 2008 , due to the lower mandate of her party, she initially had no seat in the National Council, but she succeeded in his place through the appointment of the Member of Parliament Johannes Hahn as Minister of Science in the Federal Government Faymann I and was again on December 3, 2008 sworn in.
