Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler (born November 3, 1952 ) is a Swiss legal scholar with a focus on international private law and international arbitration .

biography

Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler completed her law studies at the University of Basel in 1977 and received her doctorate in 1979. She has been a practicing lawyer in Geneva since 1976 and also in New York State since 1981. She is also a globally recognized expert in international arbitration. From 1985 to 1995 she was a partner in the law firm Baker & McKenzie . Between 1996 and 2007, Kaufmann-Kohler was a partner in the law firm Schellenberg Wittmer. In 1996, 1998 and 2000 she presided over the ad hoc department of the International Sports Court (TAS) for the Olympic Games and was President of the Swiss Arbitration Association (ASA).

In spring 2008 she co-founded the law firm Lévy Kaufmann-Kohler, which specializes in arbitration. Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler was elected to the Board of Directors of UBS AG at the 2006 Annual General Meeting . She was Chair of the Governance and Nominating Committee and a member of the Corporate Responsibility Committee. It made this mandate available at the General Assembly in mid-April 2009.

Gabrielle Kaufmann-Kohler has been a partner at the law firm Lévy Kaufmann-Kohler since January 1, 2008 and has been Professor of International Private Law at the University of Geneva since 1997 .
