Gabrielle Elaine Franco Rose (born November 1, 1977 in Rio de Janeiro , Brazil ) is a Brazilian - American swimmer .

Life

Gabrielle Rose was born in 1977 in Rio de Janeiro as the daughter of Michael and Regina Rose . She grew up in Memphis , Tennessee , where she attended St. Mary's Episcopal High School.

At the Olympic Games in Atlanta she competed for Brazil, where she was 14th in the 100 m butterfly, 22nd in the 200 m medley and 23rd in the 100 m freestyle. At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 she competed for the United States and reached the final in the 200 m indoor swimming pool, in which she finished 7th.
