The coat of arms of those of Gadendorp

Gadendorp (originally: Godendorp , later also Gadendorf ) was the name of an old Holstein noble family that lived in the vicinity of Lütjenburg .

history

The Gadendorps were a knightly noble family from Holstein and appeared several times in documents from the Schauenburg sovereigns. The first documentary mention was in 1242, when a Radolfus and a Timmo de Godendorpe were mentioned. They took their name from the village of Gadendorf in the later built Gut Panker near Lütjenburg. In 1592 there were three adult male family members. According to the Danish Aristocratic Lexicon, the noble family is said to have died out in 1646 with Anna von Gadendorp, conventual in the Preetz monastery .

coat of arms

The coat of arms shows a black bar in Siebmacher's coat of arms books in silver, above one or two cat's heads next to each other. On the helmet with black and silver helmet covers three ostrich feathers (1701) or two buffalo horns divided over a corner by silver and black (1874).
