Gaetano Giallanza (born June 6, 1974 ) in Dornach is an Italian football player who grew up in Switzerland .

Career

Gaetano Giallanza has a successful career as a professional footballer. He was a player in the international professional business for 15 years.

His professional career began in the 1992/93 season at FC Basel . The Basel football legend Karli Odermatt guided him to the club. The career was launched and after his first season in the top Swiss league, he moved to Servette Geneva and immediately became Swiss champion. There he played the 1993/94 season. In the following seasons he changed clubs again, in 1994/95 he worked for the BSC Young Boys . That season he was the top scorer. In the 1995/96 season he moved to FC Sion , where he was cup winner, before returning to FC Basel in the 1996/97 season. After this season Giallanza was transferred to FC Nantes in the French premier league for the then record sum of over 3 million francs . It is still among the 10 most expensive transfers that FC Basel has completed. The season in the north-west of France did not come to an end; shortly before the end of the season he was loaned to England in the Premier League to the Bolton Wanderers . In the English league he played against greats like Desailly or Vialli. The next stop in his career was again in Switzerland , where he went hunting for goals at FC Lugano in the 1998/99 season.

After a year at FC Nantes , season 99/00, he was back in England under contract with Norwich City , where he played until the end of the 2001/02 season. At the start of the 2003/04 season he played again with the BSC Young Boys with the number 27. From the 2004/05 season he played for two years for FC Aarau with the number 7 before returning to England for the 2006/07 season moved to Darlington FC .

After the end of his career, he remained loyal to football. He worked for two years as a consultant for the well-known English player agency BHP Sport. There he created an extensive network with the first important contacts. Giallanza also trained as a trainer. Today he runs his own agency under the name Giallanza Sport GmbH, where he looks after players like Fabian Frei , Timm Klose or Philippe Koch in career planning and public relations.
