Gaetano Nava

Gaetano Nava (born May 16, 1802 in Milan ; † March 31, 1875 ) was an Italian music teacher and composer.

The son of the composer Antonio Nava studied at the Milan Conservatory with Vincenzo Federici . From 1837 until his death in 1875 he was professor of counterpoint and singing at this conservatory. He also had numerous private singing students, the most successful of which was Charles Santley . Nava composed masses and some church music vocal works and wrote several textbooks, including solfège books and textbooks for vocal training.
